From Zero to Figma Hero: A 90-Day Learning Journey
A focused practice plan for moving from your first frame to a thoughtful product prototype.
Days 1–30: build your visual vocabulary
Start with frames, spacing, type and colour. Recreate small interface patterns as learning exercises, and label them as studies. Notice how alignment and hierarchy guide your eye before you think about decoration.
Days 31–60: connect the screens
Pick a small problem and sketch the journey on paper. Turn it into a few linked screens. Use components for repeated patterns, then change a shared element to understand why a design system saves time.
Days 61–90: test and explain
Ask someone to try a simple task with your prototype. Watch where they hesitate without directing them. Improve the experience and document what changed. Your observations and decisions are as valuable as the polished screens.
A case study beats a folder of screens
Describe the problem, the constraints, the alternatives and the changes you made. Keep the story short enough to follow. A considered process gives the reader a reason to trust the final design.
Progress starts with a little curiosity, followed by a little practice.
